Principals and staff were unbelievably proud as we analyzed data from third quarter. The third quarter of the school year has a history of being the hardest quarters due to weather, returning from holidays, and disruptions to the routine of school. This year, our students did not succumb to the gloomy weather and instead rose to the challenge and surpassed our expectations. Below, you will find data on grades, EOCs, and Honor Roll to review as we head into the final quarter of the school year.
I have included our End Of Course exam calendar for the month of April. I also included instructions for each testing day, which students need to report on time and which students need to report at 10:20 AM. Please review the calendar and mark the days of your student(s) test. Please make sure they are at the bus stop on time or dropped off by 8:00 on testing days. We have to start on time and students who are late will not be permitted to test.

We had a solid third quarter performance by our students. We usually see a drop in passing rates and GPAs during the third quarter. Our students did the opposite, they improved passing rates and GPAs. I have to give a huge shout out to our Sophomores who outperformed all the other classes. I preach to the students: Success is only achieved with sustained focus and sustained effort. We need to finish the year strong; we need all of our students to strengthen their focus and their effort to earn all As, pass all their classes and be at school every day on time.
All students in their Freshmen and Sophomore years are scheduled into classes that are required to graduate. The passing rates are tracked each quarter so students can monitor their progress. Students passing six or seven classes each quarter are on track to graduate and should sustain their focus and efforts on their classwork. Those students passing four or less should plan on attending summer school to get back on track. We have 72% of our Sophomores passing all their classes and 14% passing six out of seven, meaning 86% of our Sophomores are on track to graduate on time. 78% of our Freshmen are on track to graduate on time.
Our Juniors had a strong third quarter as well. There were 80 students in the Junior class that earned honor roll status. The passing rates need to improve as well as GPAs. This is the last quarter the Juniors will have to improve their cumulative GPA before they apply to college.
The Seniors are weeks away from graduation. 89% of our Seniors are on their way to the stage. 11% are working in that direction. We need a strong finish from our Senior class.
Grade Point Averages are the key indicator on the sustained focused and sustained effort our students are putting forth in our classrooms. The school year is divided up into four quarters, some quarters are 9 weeks with no breaks, and some are filled with four-day weeks. Our students were able to sustain their focus and efforts through the third quarter which only had four five-day weeks. The data across all grade levels was impressive as students earned solid grades.
I want to stress once again; the fourth quarter is the last time our Juniors can improve their GPA before college application season.
Honor Roll is determined by a student’s quarterly GPA. The Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors all improved on the number of students earning Honor Roll status. The highest performing class in the third quarter was the Sophomores.
In closing, The month of April we have our End Of Course exams. These exams are extremely important to our students. The students must perform well on these exams in order to graduate. The students have clearly done the work in the classroom and now it’s time for them to show what they know! I am extremely proud of the work the students and staff have done this year and I am confident that our students will perform well on these exams. Please review the calendar and mark the days your student(s) will test.
Thank you,
David White
