  • 1⁄2 teaspoon shortening

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar.
  2. Beat in chocolate and mint extract; gradually add flour.
  3. Stir in chocolate chips. Dough will be soft.
  4. Drop by Tbsp 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  5. Bake at 375 for 6-8 minutes. Cool 4 minutes before moving to racks to cool completely.

Attempting this “quick & easy” recipe found off of food.com, proved to be a complete fail. At first it looked like a good and decent recipe.

Having acquired many baking skills at home and from our very own Food and Wellness class, I was shocked by the outcome. For starters, the recipe states “30 minutes or less” but it actually took closely to 45 minutes.

After everything was measured out and ready, reading the directions didn’t make much sense. It did not state how much chocolate was needed for the cookies and the same chocolate is also needed for the icing. Also, what was weird the recipe called for so much butter and flour but no eggs. As I read on I became confused because it did not state many details. Overall, this at home recipe was a failed attempt. My cookies did not cook the right way nor even came out to look like cookies.
