Fashion and Interior Design
Apr 21, 2016
Do you think you have a sense of style, fashion and seriously be swaggin’? Or do you lack the existence and the knowledge of style? Are you interested in learning more about the world of fashion and its ever-growing topics in today’s trendy time? Interested in learning to sew or does your house just seem bland and you want to improve it with some interior design? If so, the new fashion class being introduced to WCHS next year taught by Mrs. Judith Greisinger is the choice for you!
One of our newest teachers, Mrs. Greisinger, will teach Fashion and Interior Design starting the 2016-2017 school year. The course is a semester-long class and is classified as a fine arts elective credit. Fashion and Interior Design is a class open for girls and boys, so if you’re a guy who is interested, don’t be afraid to try it out.
This is officially the first-ever fashion class to be taught at WCHS. Mrs. Greisinger is very excited to teach this class; she has 20 years of experience teaching Fashion and Interior Design. Mrs. Greisinger formerly taught Fashion and Interior Design I and Fashion and Interior Design II at her former Green Bay, Wisconsin high school, before she moved to Ohio and began teaching at WCHS.
Fashion and Interior Design is an independent, lab-based class. “Students should come to class focused and ready to work” said Mrs. Greisinger. During the semester course there will be five units covered:
Unit 1: basic color, design, line, and fabrics
Unit 2: how to use a sewing machine
Unit 3: how to read pattern
Required project: making a pair of cozy pajama pants
Unit 4: how to make a pattern
Required project: crafting a tote or bag during
Optional project: crafting a Phone / iPod charging station
Unit 5: Interior Design
Required project: designing your dream bedroom
WCHS will be getting new sewing machines for this course next year, although how many machines is still unknown. With so much to learn and offer, why wouldn’t you sign up for Fashion and Interior Design?
The material covered in the course is very practical, “everybody wears clothes” said Mrs. Greisinger. You can use the material learned to do your very own clothing repairs, or craft costumes for any occasion. “Looking good makes you feel better as well, and even lowers stress. If you look good, you feel good” said Mrs. Greisinger.
If you’re interested in Fashion and Interior Design, don’t hesitate join the class next year, sign up during, scheduling or talk to your counselor.
