Homecoming is a great success!

On September 24, the Homecoming Dance was held in the WCHS gym. The decorations and lights really conveyed the theme: Under the Harvest Moon.

The gym was decorated beautifully. The Homecoming Committee did a phenomenal job decorating and making the gym really look like a harvest moon setting. The low lighting really made the theme seem real and the red harvest moon in the corner set it all.

Homecoming adviser Ms. Rachel Baker said that she loved the theme. When she gave the seniors all the themes to vote for, she hoped they would pick the Under the Harvest Moon them. She was very excited that there were 100 more people at Homecoming this year then last year.

This was Ms. Baker’s first year as head of the Homecoming committee, and she had a blast doing it. “Running the dance alone was stressful, but overall, it was an exciting night,” she said.  Ms. Baker said that her favorite memory was setting up for the dance the Friday before with all the seniors.

Many students weren’t happy happy with the DJ and the music. Senior student Tori Adams was heated about the music. She said, “I didn’t like the music, and the DJ was really bad.” Student council addressed the music situation during one of their October meetings. The class officers will provide a set playlist in the future to avoid any music problems at future dances.

Overall the Homecoming dance was a success. Everyone had some fun and everyone was safe. Now we’re ready for Prom!
