The West Carrollton basketball team traveled to Xenia for their first game of the season. The hopes for the team were very high coming into the game. Returning junior Javen (Tank) Vaughn has been given the reigns for the team. Coach Anthony Parker returned to the school for another season after his third straight winning season. This year the team hopes to finally play up to their predictions and make a run in the playoffs this season.

The night started off disappointing, as the freshman team lost. The Pirates bounced back after a JV win, with a game-sealing shot by Kamaree Davis. The Varsity squad came to win against Xenia and that is exactly what they did. A 24-point performance by Tank Vaughn led the Pirates to a 63-47 win over the Buccaneers. Other notable performances were Jewsiah Bass’ 8 points on 53% shooting and Byron Freeman’s ten points on 50% shooting. The Pirates get their first win in the first game of the season and travel to Troy for game two of the season. The Pirates are riding high as they try to win their first MVL championship.
