WCHS basketball tryouts took place on Oct. 30 at WCHS in the main gym. At the start of a news season, tryouts showcased exciting talent and blissful performances. With a range of new talent and energy, the school is electrified to see how our team will do.

WCHS student athlete, Ruben Maull, gave his insight on the team. Maull said that he feels the team is in better shape and has height advantages over other teams in the GWOC conference. So much advantage that it could take our team all the way to the top of GWOC South this season.

A couple downfalls that our team faces is giving up when they’re feeling pressure or losing. They still have a couple things to work on as a whole, but so far they should be able to grow and overcome obstacles opponents throw their way.

Maull’s contribution to the team is a key factor on the court as he uses his height and prolonged limbs to dominate against the opponent in the post. Other key players to look out for include sophomore Dariane Matthews, junior Donyae Ringer and seniors Daniel Price, Reggie Landers, and Ryan Custenborder as they plan to give their all through this season.
