Movie Review: “Mockingjay Part 2”

Elizabeth Mason, Staff Writer

Director of “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2” Francis Lawrence, creates an action-packed, teeth-clenching film for the final movie edition to the Hunger Games series.

The movie is about Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and the fight against the Capitol. Katniss is the leader of this rebellion and is know as the “Mockingjay”. Her Mockingjay status is meant to reach out to the people and show that she is a person just like them who deserve freedom and respect. She is fighting for her love interest, Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), and to gain back his memories  the capitol took away from him with the tracker jackers in “Mockingjay Part 1.” She is also fighting to take down President Snow (Donald Sutherland) because of the wretched Hunger Games he made the citizens of all the districts go through every year. Katniss joins an army lead by Alma Coin (Julianne Moore) to be the face of the rebellion and to win against the Capitol.

“Mockingjay Part 2” is an action-packed, heart-racing movie. The emotion, acting, and quality of the movie was breathtaking because it was realistic and amazing. The actors make you feel as if you are in the movie having these events occur because the feelings and emotions they convey really touch the viewer. Because of the darker, more war-looking scenery, the costumes are flawless for the role the actors are portraying. The costumes are not too flashy or too clean. The music in the movie is more upbeat at action parts and is less-needed during the sad scenes. Horror and gore appears in the film and add a new twist on the other Hunger Games movies.

“Mockingjay Part 2” is for  teenagers 13 and above. Though the movie appeals to almost all ages, there are horror scenes and strong violence in the movie  not appropriate for most children. “Mockingjay Part 2” is an entertaining, heartfelt, and suspenseful movie that is remarkable.
