Valentine’s Day Date Ideas

Cynthia Magana, Staff Writer

February is the month of romance. It’s that time of year when boyfriends are stressing out about that perfect Valentine’s Day gift to get their significant other. Valentine’s Day is a day where you can show or express your love to your boyfriend or girlfriend. This year, Valentine’s Day is right in the middle of the three day weekend we have since President’s Day is on Monday, February 15. Each year, couples exchange cards, flowers, chocolates and even 2016 a Ford Mustang if you are thinking big.

The reason why Valentine’s is such a big holiday and is celebrated annually goes back to the fifth century, according to History.com. An emperor decided that single men made better soldiers than those who were married and had families. The emperor decided to outlaw marriage for young men. A young soldier named Valentine didn’t like the idea of outlawing marriages and continued to marry other young soldiers. When Valentine was caught, the emperor ordered Valentine to be put to death. Valentine sent his first “Valentine” to a young girl he fell in love with before his death who would come visit him. At the end of the letter, he wrote “From your Valentine.” This line is still popular today with many people. Valentine’s Day is celebrated in mid-February for the anniversary of Valentine’s death.

Valentine’s Day has a mystical and lovable undertone to it. There are many affordable ways you can take your significant other’s breath away and leave them speechless.
