How to Register to Vote

Emily Norman, Editor in Chief

Have you recently turned 18? Do you plan on voting but have no idea how to register? Registering to vote in Ohio is a simple task. It’s very important to register to vote so that when election day comes, you will be able to vote for the school levy and for the Presidential elections this year.

On March 15, West Carrollton School District is going to be holding its election for the levy. Everyone 18 or older is encouraged to vote “Yes” on Issue 20. A recommended site for registering to vote is through www.mcboe.org. West Carrollton Schools superintendent Dr. Rusty Clifford added that through this site, “it takes less than 30 seconds” to register. The site consists of a few simple questions including filling out a form with personal information.

Another way to register is through our very own Social Studies teacher, Ms. PJ Babb. Simply go to her classroom, 307, and ask for a form. The registration form has to be completed by the student. It is too late for Ms. Babb to send in paper forms but students can register online. If students want to complete the form at home, it is easy to access online. The form requires a signature.

Ms. Babb added that, “If [a] student is 17 during the primary but turns 18 by November 8, then they can vote in the primary.”

You may be wondering where to go when voting day comes. Once you’ve registered to vote, you will receive your voting location. Most of these locations include churches, the YMCA and senior citizen centers throughout the West Carrollton community.

All other information regarding voter registration can be found on the Montgomery County Board of Education website.
