Prom Preview

It’s that time of the year. One of the most anticipated dances for seniors is coming up: the Senior Prom.  Prom is on Friday, May 6 at Crowne Plaza in Dayton from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. Ladies are trying to find that perfect dress that makes them feel beautiful and guys are looking for that perfect tux to match their date’s dress. A committee of juniors came up with this year’s Prom theme: Rustic Romance.

Prom tickets are $25 a piece. The first 200 students to purchase a Prom ticket get a Prom favor: a very cute mason jar and a key chain. So get buying!! Prom tickets will go on sale Monday, April 25 and will be sold during all lunches. Tickets will be sold at lunch and after school up until Thursday, May 5 at 3:30 p.m.

English teacher and Prom adviser Mrs. Beth Mitchell  says she loves Prom and thinks Prom is a night to cherish and to be remembered. She can’t wait to see everyone in their dresses and tuxedos. Along with the hair, makeup and smiles, Mrs. Mitchell also likes Prom the old fashioned way. She said, “I would like to see more traditional dance moves. Like the ones from the OLD days…you know when people looked at their dates’ faces. Everyone is so beautiful, elegant, and handsome; it is sad when the dancing takes away from that magical night.” The other Prom advisers are Mrs. Kerr and Ms. Pasala.

Prom music will be top hits of 2015-2016 and any music that is approved. Principals and teachers who volunteer to chaperone Prom will be there. Not all chaperones have been announced yet,  but for sure  English teacher Mrs. Arnett and art teacher Mr.Reynolds will be there watching you guys have a blast.

Prom costs around $6,000. Any remaining money from ticket sales goes to the Class of 2016 and is then forwarded to the junior class for Homecoming for the following school year.

The doors we are using for our Rustic Romance picture backdrop were donated by Dave Wysong with Dayton Reclamation and Restoration located in the Antique Mall at 651 Lyons Road in Centerville.
