WCHS showcases talents before Spring Break

On Friday, March 25, WCHS held the annual Talent Show in Guiler Auditorium to show off some of the talent that our fellow Pirates have before students left for Spring Break.

Fifteen acts made the show out of almost 30 tryouts. Some of the performers were familiar faces that we have seen in previous talent shows, such as seniors Hannah Glowick and Abby Tincher. Other brave performers took the talent show stage for the first time, including senior Becca Sule and the Senior Girls dance group.

The student body acted respectfully when the students performed. “I think they did great! There were so many new acts this year and they all performed very well,” said Mrs. Emily Earl, the talent show coordinator.

Another highlight of the talent show was the entertaining hosts, seniors Gracie Johnson and Abby Tincher. “I would recommend not being nervous and being your fun self and having a plan!” Johnson said when asked for advice for future hosts of the show.

The only problem that came up, according to Mrs. Earl, was getting everyone to show up for practice because of sports schedule conflicts.

Talent is not the only factor used when selecting performers for the show. Confidence and stage presence are also taken into consideration. 20-25 student judges pick the acts by rating the acts during the tryouts. “…There’s no bad talent. If they can’t sing or dance they should watch some episodes of America’s Got Talent or search ideas online to come up with something fun and entertaining to perform!” advised Mrs. Earl to future performers.
