The Pirates win again!

Last Friday, October 20th, one of the best games of the football season happened. The West Carrollton Pirates faced the Greenville Green Wave away, beating them with the final score being 26-21.  Sadly, this was the last game of the season for the pirates and it was the seniors’ last high school game ever.

It was looking rough for the Pirates as they were off to a rocky start trailing 14-0 at the end of the first quarter. Then suddenly the momentum changed, the Pirates were starting to make a comeback as they were continuing to stop the Greenville offense and making huge plays on both sides of the field throughout the second half to help the Pirates win the game. Four seniors scored in their last high school game including Kevin Davis Jr, Dexter Pitts, Brandon Foster, who also racked up a couple of sacks, and Antonio Robinson. Antonio also made an amazing diving interception to give the ball back to the Pirates late in the game.

Although the football team didn’t manage to make it into the playoffs, This year was one of the best seasons the Pirates have had in years. The Pirates also did something historical this season, managing to get their first win in three and a half years and making it onto the local news. Also, football players Payton Barbosa and Antonio Robinson had a one-of-a-kind play that went viral and made it onto Hudl and even SportsCenter. The play consisted of Junior, Payton Barbosa stripping the ball out of the opponent’s hand and somehow pitching back to Senior, Antonio Robinson for an 85-yard touchdown. The future looks bright and the community is excited to see what the future holds for West Carrollton football.
