We have teachers who are in the district who have graduated from the West Carrollton High School. Not all of the alumni came back to the high school to teach. Some went to middle school and taught there and went to other schools as well. Ms. Sherry Kincaid graduated from WC in 1988.
She works as a fourth-grade teacher at Harry Russell. She has been a substitute teacher at all of the buildings in the district. She has taught 6th and 7th grade ELA classes at the middle school. Ms. Kincaid also taught one year of 6th grade ELA at the intermediate building. Her favorite grade that she has taught is 4th grade which is the grade she is teaching now. This is her 25th year of teaching at the West Carrollton School District. She originally was a middle school teacher. Instead of doing the military or the workforce after high school, she decided to go to college, she went to Ohio State University.
What brought Ms. Kincaid back to West Carrollton was her family. Her favorite traditions that have followed her from when she was a student to now being a teacher are the homecoming parade, the announcing of homecoming king and queen, and the spirit weeks. Ms. Kincaid’s fondest memory as a pirate student is when she shared her locker her senior year with her best friends, those best friends ended up becoming lifelong friends. Ms. Kincaid had a couple of staff influences during high school: Mrs. Seibert, Mrs. Pat Ingram and Mrs. Bolis. This is her 25th year of teaching at the West Carrollton School district. The ways that the schools have changed in a good way is new which in her words means that student pride has increased. In her eyes, the students seem to feel proud about the new buildings coming and it seems like they are taking better care of the facilities. She thought that she was going to teach back at West Carrollton after she graduated. Ms.Kincaid was offered many other jobs at other districts but she decided to come back to West Carrollton because this is where her heart is. She loves that she has been able to give back to her hometown. She still lives in the district actually and she has two daughters that are in the district as well.
